How long does a car body repair take?

By Bromham's Bodyworks, Derby. Updated .

The short answer

Minor scratches, chips and small dents are often repaired in a day. Larger accident damage usually takes longer, depending on how many panels need work, whether parts must be ordered and how long the paint needs. You get an expected time with your written estimate.

How quick can a small repair be?

One customer had a door dent and a wing chip repaired from handover to collection in just over four hours. Another said they usually drop the car off in the morning and collect it in the evening.

What about bigger accident damage?

One customer with rear bumper, quarter panel and rear light damage was told it may take two to three days, and had a call to collect little more than 24 hours after dropping it off. Times depend on parts and paint.

What slows a repair down?

Waiting for parts, extra damage found once panels are removed, and insurer authorisation if you are claiming.

Can I have a courtesy car?

Several customers mention a courtesy car in their reviews. Ask when you book.
